I must admit, I can't give my Mum all the credit for mine - like you, I grew up in the seventies and eighties, and was fed fish fingers and the like when I was very small. Later, I turned my nose up at dishes such as Liver and Onions (Eddie Izzard does a great sketch about having to eat liver, with Extra Tubes! as a child) and embraced vegetarianism. This was about as far away from our family tradition of cooking as you could get!! Sadly, this year I have lost both my Mum and my her Mum, my grandmother. But I am honoured to have been given my gran's Mrs Beeton (broiled larks, anyone?!) and her Cake Book. Moreover, I have her famous marrow chutney recipe, and several bits and pieces of kitchen paraphernalia, such as the salt cellar with which she used to dredge practically every plate of food. The salt cellar is kept purely for its sentimental value, but I think that Grandma Marjorie would be pleased and proud to know that her recipes and old spoons live on.Foxynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-295421286576646745.post-50078568605101450452009-10-07T15:56:03.358+01:002009-10-07T15:56:03.358+01:00I am still recovering from the chips wi' soup ...I am still recovering from the chips wi' soup over recipe.

Maybe Delia will include this in her next 'How to Cheat' cookery bible...Dawn/LittleGreenFingershttp://www.littlegreenfingers.typepad.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-295421286576646745.post-55056909883802344042009-10-05T20:31:37.266+01:002009-10-05T20:31:37.266+01:00Thanks for the comment Caz : ) Would love to see a...Thanks for the comment Caz : ) Would love to see any recipes. It will be passed onto you with honour. Dad has just said you are the nearest to your great grandmother Nan Bennett with a passion for cooking, pickling etc. But you still can't beat chips with veggie soup.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
